Talking about cultural relativism is equivalent to saying about respect, since it is represented by the way of looking at the other without judging him, classifying him as good or bad, after all, we are social beings, that is, we are influenced by the environment. in which we interact, so we form our religious, political, and personal values. All of this comes from their own cultural aspects that can manifest themselves in different ways, and with an empathic look one can understand them.

WHAT IS CULTURE?

The concept of culture is often linked to anthropology, as if it were specific to this area of ​​knowledge. Therefore, in this text we will bring two views about it.

 According to the English anthropologist, “culture is the complex set of knowledge, beliefs, art, morals and law, as well as customs and habits acquired by individuals in a very broad society, with which one seeks to express the human social life, the universal culture ”.

“To make an objective analysis, it was necessary to examine cultures in their present state, without concern for their origins” (Malinowski, Bronislaw, English Anthropologist). It conceived of cultures as functional and balanced systems, formed by interdependent elements that gave it its own characteristics, especially in relation to basic needs such as food, protection and reproduction. Being interdependent, these elements could not be examined in isolation.

          

BUT WHAT IS CULTURAL RELATIVISM?

Cultural relativism is, therefore, a way of understanding other cultures without regard for one's own (avoiding categorizing them as good or bad). By putting the culture of the other, just as different, due to their socio-historical and even physical aspects, it is possible to value them, defend them and even learn from them.

To have this look it is important to keep in mind that everything is interconnected and we can not analyze isolated points, for example, in the United States it is common for people not to shower every day, because of the lower temperature, for us Brazilians, This habit is associated with poor hygiene, but for them it is normal and this is justified by the weather (physical aspect) and even some studies say that just three baths a week would be sufficient for proper hygiene.

How can we say with all letters which culture is right? This habit of bathing in Brazil every day comes from the Indians, our natural wealth and the tropical climate. Already the United States adopted other forms of hygiene, because it has a different culture.

Therefore, it is essential to emphasize that when looking at another society, it is extremely important to take the "glasses" of the "Universal Rights of Man", because we are cultural, we all deserve respect for our ethnicity and have the responsibility to observe the culture of the other. from physical to historical aspects.

Falar de relativismo cultural é equivalente a dizer sobre respeito, uma vez que o mesmo é representado pela forma de olhar para o outro sem julgá-lo, o classificando como bom ou ruim, afinal, somos seres sociais, ou seja, somos influenciados pelo meio no qual interagimos, sendo assim, formamos nossos aspectos religiosos, políticos e valores pessoais. Tudo isso provém de seus próprios aspectos culturais que podem se manifestar de diferentes maneiras, analisando com um olhar empático é possível compreendê-los.

O QUE É CULTURA?

O conceito de cultura com frequência é vinculado à Antropologia, como se fosse específico dessa área do conhecimento. Por isso, neste texto vamos trazer duas visões a respeito.

De acordo com o antropólogo inglês,” a cultura é o conjunto complexo de conhecimentos, crenças, arte, moral e direito, além de costumes e hábitos adquiridos pelos indivíduos em uma sociedade, ou seja, muito ampla, com a qual se procura expressar a totalidade de vida social humana, a cultura universal”.

“Para fazer uma análise objetiva, era necessário examinar as culturas em seu estado atual, sem preocupações com suas origens”( Malinowski, Bronislaw, Antropólogo Inglês). Concebia as culturas como sistemas funcionais e equilibrados, formados por elementos interdependentes que lhe davam características próprias, principalmente no tocante às necessidades básicas, como alimento, proteção e reprodução. Por ser interdependentes, esses elementos não poderiam ser examinados isoladamente.          

MAS O QUE É O RELATIVISMO CULTURAL?

O relativismo cultural é, portanto, uma forma de entender outras culturas sem levar em consideração a sua própria (evitando categorizá-las como boas ou ruins). Ao colocar a cultura do outro, apenas como diferente, devido aos seus aspectos sócio históricos e até mesmo físicos, é possível valorizá-las, defendê-las e até mesmo aprender com elas.

Para termos esse olhar é importante ter em mente que tudo está interligado e não podemos analisar pontos isolados, por exemplo, nos Estados Unidos é comum que as pessoas não tomem banho todos os dias, por conta da temperatura mais baixa, para nós, brasileiros, tal hábito está associado com a falta de higiene, porém, para eles é algo normal e isso se justifica através do clima (aspecto físico) e até mesmo alguns estudos dizem  que com apenas três banhos por semana seria suficientes para uma higiene adequada.

Como podemos afirmar com todas as letras, qual cultura está correta? Esse hábito, no Brasil, de tomar banhos todos os dias provém dos índios, de nossa riqueza natural e o clima tropical. Já os Estados Unidos adotaram outras formas de higiene, por ter uma cultura diferente.

Portanto, é essencial ressaltar que ao olharmos a outra sociedade, é de extrema importância levarmos os “óculos” dos “Direitos Universais Do Homem”, pois somos seres culturais, todos nós merecemos respeito por nossa etnia e temos a responsabilidade de observar a cultura do outro, desde aspectos físicos a históricos.
